Vasectomy Reversal in Ottawa

A vasectomy is a good form of birth control when you decide you no longer want to have children. If life has made you change your mind, it’s time to talk to a doctor about a vasectomy reversal at our Ottawa clinic to learn the options for you. The success of a vasovasostomy, the technical name for a vasectomy reversal, depends on the time lapse from the original vasectomy and how your body responded to the surgery.

A vasectomy reversal at the Bercier Clinic is an out-patient procedure that may restore the possibility of conception.

What Happens During a Vasectomy Reversal?

In a vasectomy, the doctor cuts the pathway between the testes and urethra. You still produce sperm, but it can’t enter the seminal fluid. In a vasectomy reversal, the surgeon repairs that blockage. If the pathway is blocked due to scar tissue buildup, the process for reversal is called vasoepididymostomy. In this procedure, the vas tube is connected to the epididymis, which also repairs the connection. A vasectomy reversal does not require general anesthesia. The surgery is handled in an outpatient setting. You will go home the same day, but you may be required to take it easy for a few days to give your body time to heal.

Are You a Good Candidate for a Vasectomy Reversal?

Only you and your doctor can decide if a vasectomy reversal is right for you. Make an appointment with our Ottawa clinic to discuss this procedure.
