Dre. VALÉRIE DUMAIS
Dr Dumais completed a bachelor’s degree in health sciences at the University of Ottawa in 2002 followed by a degree in medicine completed in 2007 also at the University of Ottawa. She then completed her specialty training in General Surgery residency at The Ottawa Hospital in 2013 and a Masters in Science also from the University of Ottawa in 2014.
In 2013 Dr Dumais started her practice as a General Surgeon at the Hawkesbury General Hospital where she continues to work as a full time staff. She has been involved in many hospital committees and held administrative roles including a 5 year term as the Chief of Surgery between 2017 and 2022. She has supervised and trained many surgical students and residence over the years as a University of Ottawa Faculty Member.
Among several other surgical procedures, Dr Dumais has been doing vasectomies for the past 10 yrs. She has joined Dr Weiss and Dr Bercier’s vasectomy clinic in 2022 after adopting the no-scalpel no-needle technique. She has more than 1000 vasectomies to her credit. She is part of the World Vasectomy Network. Dr Dumais works at the vasectomy clinic on average 1 day per week, continuing to work as a licenced General Surgeon for her remaining work week. She is a member of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, Canadian association or General Surgeons and the Ontario Medical Association and the Bureau des Affaires Francophones of the University of Ottawa.
