Study of a Male Contraceptive
Method Under Development
Are you considering a vasectomy?
Are you between 25 and 65 years old and in good health?
Would you like to help develop a new contraceptive method for men?
This study may be of interest to you.
During a vasectomy, the vas deferens, the tube that carries sperm toward the prostate during
ejaculation, is divided and blocked. This research study aims to evaluate the safety and
effectiveness of a hydrogel injected into the vas deferens to block the passage of sperm. The vas
deferens is accessed through the scrotum to insert the hydrogel, using an approach similar to a
no-scalpel vasectomy.
A video on the NEXT Life Sciences website demonstrates how it works: https://www.planaformen.com/science
After the hydrogel is placed, participants will be followed for six months. Following this period, they will have three options:
01
Have the hydrogel removed and undergo a vasectomy immediately.
02
Keep the hydrogel plug in place and participate in longer-term follow-up.
03
Have the hydrogel removed to assess the return of sperm to the ejaculate,
followed by a vasectomy three months later.
The study requires blood tests, semen analyses, and follow-up appointments by telephone or in person. Financial compensation will be provided for the time and participation involved in the study.
